Red Bulls sign Dax McCarty

The New York Red Bulls have signed midfielder Dax McCarty to a new contact.
Red Bulls sporting director Andy Roxburgh announced the deal Tuesday.
McCarty started in 33 of 34 regular-season games last season, recording three goals and three assists. He also started in New York's two playoff games. The Winter Park, Fla., native was acquired from in June 2011 from D.C. United for midfielder Dwayne De Rosario. He had previous played five seasons for FC Dallas.
McCarty has made five appearances for the U.S. national team and was a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic team.
