Mike Grella scored in the fourth minute and the Red Bulls snapped a five-year high, four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over shorthanded Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night.

Kemar Lawrence and Sean Davis set up the goal that gave the Red Bulls their second win (2-5-3) in the last 10 games.

Real Salt Lake lost two players to straight red cards in a 15-minute span late in the first half and at the start of the second. Captain Javier Morales was sent off in the 40th minute for a tackle on Felipe that took away a breakaway opportunity. Defender Demar Phillips was sent off in the 55th minute for a high tackle on Connor Lake.

Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando was outstanding in the final 35 minutes, making at last three outstanding saves, including one in close on teenager Anatole Bertrand Abang.

Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles only had one tough save, a stop on a hard shot by Joao Plata in the 29th minute. He also set up the Red Bulls' goal with a half-the-field pass that Bradley Wright-Phillips fed to Lawrence on the left wing. His deep crossing pass was re-directed by Davis to Grella at the far post for a shot into an open net for his fourth goal of the season.

The Red Bulls played without midfielders Sacha Kljestan (red card) and Lloyd Sam (groin). Real Salt Lake was without midfielder Kyle Beckerman (yellow card accumulation) and striker Alvaro Saborio (international duty).
