HARRISON, N.J. -- New York Red Bulls captain Thierry Henry has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount of money for violent conduct late in the game against Sporting Kansas City.

The league's disciplinary committee announced Friday it was taking action against Henry for conduct that endangered the safety of Sporting Kansas City forward Kei Kamara in the 93rd minute.

Henry appeared to come up from behind Kamara during a stoppage in play and hit heads with the Sporting Kansas City forward who scored the second goal in a 2-0 win on Wednesday night.

Henry will serve the suspension Saturday when New York faces the New England Revolution.

Fines collected will be donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S. and the MLS Players Union.
