The New Jersey Red Bulls have traded leading scorer Kenny Cooper to FC Dallas for allocation money.
Red Bulls sporting director Andy Roxburgh announced the trade on Monday, saying the money and the salary cap relief will allow the team to make necessary moves.
Acquired from Portland in January 2012, Cooper had a team-high 18 goals and three assists in 33 regular season MLS appearances last year. Cooper played for Dallas from 2006-09.
