Red Sox agree to terms with ex-Yankee, Met Chris Young

Outfielder Chris Young has parlayed his rebound with the Yankees into a two-year deal with the Red Sox, an industry source confirmed on Monday.

The agreement, first reported by Fox Sports, is pending a physical.

Young, 32, hit .252 with 14 homers and 52 RBIs with the Yankees this past season and batted .282 with three homers and 10 RBIs in 23 games with the Yankees in 2014 after being released by the Mets.

He figures to be a fourth outfielder for Boston, which appears to be positioned for a trade. The addition of Aaron Hicks via a trade lessened the Yankees' need for Young.

Mets share the wealth

Apparently, it pays to finish second.

The Mets bowed out in five games to the Royals in the World Series but nevertheless set a record for a losing team with an average postseason share of $300,757.58, Major League Baseball announced yesterday. That share for a runner-up eclipsed the previous mark of $291,667.68 by the Tigers in 2006.

The Yankees gave out shares of $13,939.99 for their one-game wild-card appearance, a loss to the Astros.

Full postseason shares were worth $370,069.03 for the world champion Royals.

Cueto rebuffs D-backs

Johnny Cueto has rejected a six-year, $120-million offer from the Diamondbacks, a person with knowledge of the situation said. Arizona wants a front-line starter and would have made the righthander by far the highest-paid player in the organization. The rejection of the offer first was reported by mlb.com . . .
