Police are investigating after a 12-year-old boy was critically injured when he was struck by a car after leaving the Destiny USA mall in Syracuse.
Sgt. David Sackett says it appears several young boys were crossing the Hiawatha Boulevard ramp when one of the children was hit by a vehicle driven by a 47-year-old Syracuse man around 7:35 p.m. Sunday.
The boy, whose identity is being withheld, suffered head injuries in the accident. He was rushed to Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The Syracuse Police Department's Traffic Section is handling the investigation. It's unclear if police intend to pursue charges against the driver.
