A 3-year-old boy is dead and a 16-year-old girl is hospitalized after they were hit by a car while trick-or-treating in upstate New York.

Police tell the Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester that the car struck the children as they were crossing a two-lane road in Greece, New York at about 9:40 p.m. Friday.

Police say 3-year-old Tayvier Granderson died shortly after being hit. The teenager, Nicole Moore, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
