ADAMS CENTER, N.Y. — State police say troopers searching for $15,000 worth of stolen tools ended up finding a methamphetamine lab and dozens of marijuana plants at a home in northern New York.

Authorities were looking for tools stolen from a construction site in the Jefferson County town of Adams when a lead brought them to the Adams Center residence. Investigators say troopers spotted ladders and construction materials outside the home and smelled a strong odor of marijuana.

Once inside, troopers say they found elements of a meth lab, along with a marijuana-growing operation and 82 pot plants.

Two men, ages 41 and 25, and a 25-year-old woman were arrested and jailed in lieu of bail.
