A Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise money to get a 96-year-old World War II veteran back into his central New York home.

Veteran Chuck Bailey lost his home in Granby in a fire last week, and friends and neighbors are trying to help him recover. Bailey lost everything in the blaze and neighbors in the community just northwest of Syracuse are working on getting him the basic personal effects.

The Central New York chapter of the American Red Cross also provided Bailey with linens, food, clothing and money for transportation.

Red Cross spokesman Matt Michael tells The Post-Standard of Syracuse it will help with referrals to agencies that can provide any long-term help he needs.

The website has raised more than half of its $10,000 goal.
