Connecticut man takes first sip of coffee to celebrate 70th birthday
Milford resident Michael N. Marcus celebrated his 70th birthday on Friday by crossing an item off his bucket list. He took his first-ever sip of coffee.
“Wow. I’ve wasted most of my life. This is really good,” Marcus said after taking a sip of a medium-size coffee with cream and sugar at Dunkin’ Donuts, 275 Boston Post Road.
The Milford branch of the coffee chain hosted a birthday breakfast in honor of Marcus’ birthday. Employees decorated the store and made a cake tower out of doughnuts. One employee even brought out a karaoke machine to sing “Happy Birthday” to Marcus.
The 70-year-old tried Dunkin’ Donuts’ medium mocha swirl with cream coffee as well, which Nicole Ball, a franchise owner, said had more of a similar taste to the hot chocolate Marcus drinks often at that branch.
Ball said the store was excited to share Marcus’ special day with him.
“We serve hundreds of guests every day, but it’s not every day you get to witness someone enjoying their first taste of coffee, especially a guest who is 70 years young,” Ball said. “He could’ve gone anywhere for a cup of coffee and we’re honored that he chose our store to do this.”
