Police say a wrong-way driver has injured an officer trying to stop him in suburban New York.

According to Westchester County police, 40-year-old Paul Anthony Bennett was driving south on the Bronx River Parkway in Yonkers late Saturday when he crossed over to the northbound lanes.

Police say an officer pursued Bennett and he collided with the police car.

The officer was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

Bennett was later arrested on charges including assault and fleeing a police officer.

He was awaiting arraignment Sunday in Yonkers City Court. No information on an attorney for Bennett was immediately available. http://www.lohud.com
