Cuomo watch: Legislating in harmony
With Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo enjoying good relations with the State Legislature, the key question for this final week of the 2012 session is whether anyone will push that hard for certain bills, risking harmony.
Cuomo would like to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana and establish a new set of investigators and prosecutors to focus on cases involving the developmentally disabled. Democratic lawmakers would like to hike the minimum wage. Republicans want a slew of business-tax cuts and new criminal-justice measures.
Harmony might be the biggest priority. Many legislators and lobbyists expect to see deals where they can be easily done -- but don't think anyone will make big demands with the end so near.
