Where's the audit of the Long Island Power Authority that the Cuomo administration launched 19 months ago?

In April 2011, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo directed his inspector general to look at spending, alleged overbilling and rate increases at LIPA. To date, no report has been issued, although LIPA officials in August had seen copies of a draft and the examination was said to be wrapping up.

As widely noted last week, the Democratic governor, who has been harshly critical of LIPA's performance amid superstorm Sandy, also has yet to install a new chief executive or fill several board vacancies.

Now, Cuomo has launched a special panel to look at utilities and the energy regulatory system in New York and perhaps suggest overhauls. Will that finally move along the audits and appointments?-- Yancey Roy
