COLONIE, N.Y. — A 33-year-old Albany man is in jail after authorities say state troopers stopped him while he was driving the wrong way on an upstate New York highway.

State police say they received numerous calls early Sunday morning reporting a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 87, the Adirondack Northway, in Saratoga County.

Troopers managed to stop the Range Rover in neighboring Albany County. Police say the driver, David Suggs, was drunk.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless endangerment and was issued several vehicle and traffic tickets. Suggs is being held Monday in the Albany County Jail on $50,000 cash bail.

It couldn’t be determined if he had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
