Voters encountering problems Tuesday in New York’s presidential primary can dial into an Election Day hotline for help, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said.

Schneiderman said his office has created the hotline to help troubleshoot and resolve a range of issues and barriers encountered by voters at the polls for the primary, according to a Friday news release.

He urged voters experiencing any problems or issues to call the hotline at 800-771-7755 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, or email civil.rights@ag.ny.gov at any time. The hotline will be staffed by attorneys and staff in the office’s Civil Rights Bureau.

“Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy, and my office is deeply committed to ensuring equal access for all eligible voters on election day,” Schneiderman said in the news release.

The attorney general’s office has operated the hotline since November 2012. In previous years, the office fielded hundreds of complaints from voters throughout the state and worked with local election officials and others to promptly address issues encountered by voters at the polls, the release said.
