Upstate man gets 40 years for beating, stabbing and setting fire to couple
An upstate New York man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for an attack that left a 22-year-old man dead and his six months pregnant girlfriend hospitalized with serious injuries.
Local media outlets report 22-year-old Julian Talamantez IV of Binghamton was sentenced Friday in Broome County Court, where he pleaded guilty in August to first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Talamantez and 26-year-old Nigel Saunders were accused of breaking into a Binghamton home and beating, stabbing, and setting fire to the victims, who were left for dead.
Jordan Dordell was killed and his 19-year-old fiancee injured.
Saunders is awaiting trial on the same charges.
