ROCHESTER -- The Pentagon says remains turned over to the United States by North Korea have been identified as those of a soldier from Rochester who went missing during an overwhelming attack by Chinese forces during the Korean War in 1950.

The defense department's POW/Missing Personnel Office said Monday that Army Cpl. Patrick Glennon will be buried Wednesday at Arlington National Cemetery.

Glennon was fighting with the 1st Cavalry Division's 8th Cavalry Regiment when the Chinese assaulted their defensive positions along the Nammyon River near Unsan on Nov. 1, 1950.

He was reported missing after the attack.

His remains were among those from around Unsan collected in six boxes given to a U.S. delegation in 2007.

His metal ID tags and a DNA match with his cousins confirmed Glennon's identity. -- AP
