Police probing death threats against 6 state lawmakers

ALBANY -- State Police are investigating death threats against a half-dozen women senators and Assembly members, officials confirmed Wednesday.
Two of those threatened -- state Sen. Catharine Young (R-Olean) and Assemb. Jane Corwin (R-Clarence) -- declined to comment Wednesday on the probe into the threats.
State Police had asked officials not to discuss the case to avoid hindering the investigation.
The Buffalo News reported that the profanity-laced letters appeared to be from New York City and said they accused the women of being racists, with references to the Ku Klux Klan.
No further threats were reported Wednesday, a day after the first letters appeared, officials said.
State Police wouldn't comment on the investigation.
Several additional troopers were positioned near the Assembly and Senate chambers.
