NY Assembly to review efforts to curb home homelessness
State lawmakers in New York plan to review the state's efforts to curb homelessness.
Two committees of the state Assembly are scheduled to meet Tuesday in Albany to discuss the problem of homelessness and the effectiveness of programs aimed at reducing the number of people without adequate housing.
The federal government estimates that there were more than 77,000 homeless people in New York state in 2013, more than any other state except California.
This year's state budget set aside $30 million for housing programs and other initiatives aimed at helping people avoid homelessness.
