A registered sex offender recently arrested on a parole violation charge is now facing a murder count stemming from the shooting of a female acquaintance earlier this month.

Paterson police say 34-year-old city resident Rondell Gray also faces an attempted murder charge for allegedly wounding a 30-year-old man during the Jan. 8 shooting. But further details on the incident have not been disclosed.

Authorities say Gray and the woman he's accused of killing, 28-year-old Myesha Montgomery, once lived together in the same home. But they wouldn't disclose specific details about their relationship.

Gray was arrested Wednesday at a city home on the parole violation charge. Authorities say he allegedly cut off an electronic monitoring bracelet.

It wasn't known Sunday if Gray has retained an attorney.
