ALBANY -- New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has set special elections for former Rep. Anthony Weiner's congressional seat and six vacant seats in the state Assembly for Sept. 13, coinciding with statewide primaries.

The 9th Congressional District includes parts of Brooklyn and Queens.

The Assembly seats are in Oneida County, Erie County, Brooklyn, Manhattan and two in Queens.

Weiner resigned in June after he admitted, after earlier denials, that he sent inappropriate messages and photos to women online.

No one has officially declared for Weiner's seat. Queens City Councilman Mark Weprin, former council members Melinda Katz and Eric Gioia and Assemb. Rory Lancman all have been mentioned as possible Democratic contenders.

Republicans Bob Turner, New York State Civil Court Judge Noach Dear and Councilman Eric Ulrich also have been mentioned as possible candidates.
