Police: Upstate man dies after tractor falls off forklift

A western New York man is dead after being pinned under a lawn tractor he was working on.

The accident happened at about 4:20 p.m. Saturday in Kendall.

Sheriff's officials in Orleans County say 62-year-old Stephen Ergott was pinned under the tractor and was dead when rescuers arrived.

They say Ergott had used the forklift of a larger tractor to lift the lawn tractor off the ground so he could work on the underside.

But the tractor slipped off the forklift and fell on the victim.

Kendall is northwest of Rochester.
