The New York National Guard will be deployed to communities throughout the Hudson Valley that were walloped by the nor’easter that tore through the state and caused thousands to lose power, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Saturday.

The deployment will begin Sunday afternoon with 100 Guard members and 30 vehicles out of Camp Smith in Westchester County. They will be assisting state and local authorities with tasks such as clearing debris and controlling traffic, officials said.

Cuomo administration officials will also be on hand to lead recovery efforts.

“We are deploying the National Guard and senior officials to ramp up recovery efforts and ensure the thousands of New Yorkers impacted by this storm are getting the help they need,” Cuomo said in a statement.

All winter weather watches and warnings have expired for Long Island, New York City regions and Westchester County, officials said.

Flood warnings remain during the high tide cycles of coastal areas of Long Island and New York City.

LaGuardia and Kennedy airports are open and anticipating a close-to-full schedule, one day after there were more than 1,100 cancellations, officials said.
