New York's Adirondack ski centers are opening for the winter season.
Whiteface Mountain near Lake Placid opens on Thanksgiving Day. Gore Mountain in North Creek is opening on Friday.
Whiteface operators say that despite the warm fall they have been able to make tons of snow in a short amount of time in time. Six trails are expected to be open at Whiteface. Snow guns are being used on multiple trails at Gore.
The ski centers run by the state's Olympic Regional Development Authority will have opening weekend ticket prices of $38 for adults, $29 for teens, and $20 for juniors when skiers donate a non-perishable food item.
