Representatives from the state Department of Financial Services will attend a “resource fair” for superstorm Sandy victims in Bellmore Thursday.

The DFS representatives will “help Nassau County residents with applications for federal assistance, as well as provide help with insurance issues,” the agency said in a statement.
The Sandy Relief Fair & Resource Fair takes place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bellmore Knights of Columbus, 2333 Bellmore Ave. Nassau County and Hempstead Town agencies are also participating in the event, officials said.

Representatives from the DFS attended a similar event in Long Beach Wednesday and will go to another on Staten Island Friday and Saturday.

Homeowners and business owners are also encouraged to apply for recovery assistance online, a spokesman for the DFS said. Information is available at http://nysandyhelp.ny.gov.
