Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday for the special election for Suffolk County’s Sixth Legislative District. Registered voters in the district can check polling sites at the Suffolk Board of Elections’ website.

The election is to fill the 6th District County Legislature seat, which became vacant when Legis. Dan Losquadro won election to the State Assembly. The district occupies part of the northern section of the Town of Brookhaven.

The candidates are Republican Martin Haley of Miller Place, a former county legislator, chief deputy county treasurer and current town building commissioner and Suffolk Federal Credit Union board chairman, and Democrat Sarah Anker, an environmentalist and former Mount Sinai school board member.
