Report: 58,000 students opt out of Common Core tests
Today is the second day of the new Common Core tests, but tens of thousands of Long Island students are once again opting out.
Almost 58,000 students on the Island decided not to take the English portion of the tests, according to Newsday.
The math test runs next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The state education commissioner defends this year's renovated exams, saying they have fewer questions and there's more time to take them.
