Hempstead Town officials are inviting Uniondale residents to review the draft executive summary for the proposed Uniondale Community Vision Plan and voice their opinions Monday at the next meeting on the plany.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 14 in the Uniondale High School Little Theatre,
933 Goodrich St.

The draft plan, “Building a Better Uniondale: The Uniondale Community Vision Plan,” can be viewed at toh.li/files/pdfs/tb_uniondalevision.pdf or at the Uniondale Public Library, 400 Uniondale Ave.

With the collaboration of community leaders, professional planners and government officials at previous visioning meetings, a summary draft was developed that identifies the community’s short-, intermediate- and long-term priorities and strategies over the next 25 years.

The draft report will be refined with community input, a process that will help develop a final vision plan, town officials said.

Some of the goals include revitalizing the business district, beautifying streets, improving public transportation, strengthening ties with Hofstra University, and redeveloping vacant and underused properties. The plan mentions a proposal to create commercial area design guidelines with an amended sign ordinance and newly established zoning districts.
