Rip current warning all along the South Shore

A high-risk rip current warning is in effect across the South Shore of Long Island, from Brooklyn to Montauk, through Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service issued the warning from Brooklyn and Southern Queens to Nassau and Suffolk counties.
“Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all people entering the surf zone,” forecasters said. “Anyone visiting the beaches should stay out of the surf. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.”
Officials said anyone entering the water should have a flotation device and should not swim without lifeguards on duty. If someone is caught in a rip current, lifeguards advise swimming parallel to the shoreline until they can reach shore or be rescued.
