River Phoenix's last film to be released
Phoenix's final film to be released
Like the mythical bird that is part of his name, River Phoenix could rise from the ashes, at least on film. Eighteen years after the actor's sudden death in 1993 at age 23, director George Sluizer told The Hollywood Reporter that he has held on to his footage for Phoenix's final movie, "Dark Blood." Sluizer, 79, who helmed both the 1988 Dutch film "The Vanishing" and its 1993 American remake, said he plans to re-edit the movie for release, hoping to recruit Phoenix's similar-sounding brother Joaquin to provide voice-over. Judy Davis and Jonathan Pryce also star in film.
