Riverhead's Riley chooses UConn
Riverhead jumper Melodee Riley will be attending the University of Connecticut next year.
Riley signed her letter of intent to run for UConn earlier today, coach Maria Dounelis told Newsday.
Riley earned All-American honors in the triple jump last outdoor season (41-3.5). She was also the New York State outdoor champion in both the triple jump (39-3) and the long jump (18-9).
She will be the second Blue Wave runner to join the Huskies in as many years. Former Riverhead jumper Treval Hatcher is currently a freshman on the men's team.
