The Riverhead town board is asking people who live, work or visit the downtown business district to take part in an online poll, asking what they like about the area and what they would like to see added along West Main Street between the business district and the Tanger Outlet Center.
The responses will become part of a planning update to help guide the town’s efforts to revitalize the area along the Peconic River.
The survey can be found by going to the town website -- townofriverheadny.gov -- and clicking on the blue “Riverhead Inspired -- Downtown Survey” button.
The stretch of Route 25 between the mall and the downtown business district has not seen significant new development in decades. Some of it is town or state-protected wetlands, but other property is open to redevelopment.
A random drawing will be held among people who take the survey and provide an email address, with prizes including $50 gift cards for stores or restaurants or tickets to the downtown aquarium.
