The Rockville Centre Auxiliary Police have moved into a new $500,000 headquarters at Mill River Park, officials announced Friday.

The project was funded by a combination of state, county and village funds, police said in a statement.

The volunteer service’s new headquarters replaces a former structure that was dilapidated, the statement said.

“This project is part of our efforts to improve our parklands on the south side of the Village,” Mayor Fran Murray said in the statement.

The new headquarters, near the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Sunrise Highway, is “a modern, well-equipped building, which also provides bathroom facilities for the nearby parks, fields and basketball courts,” village officials said in the statement.

The auxiliary force’s 18 members contribute about 3,000 hours of service annually, village officials said.
