Islip’s portion of Ronkonkoma now has its own welcome sign.
Town officials on Saturday celebrated the installation of the first-ever Ronkonkoma sign at Johnson and Ocean avenues.
The project added trees, landscaping and signage to show visitors they’re on the Islip side of Ronkonkoma, a hamlet that also straddles Brookhaven.
Flanked by shrubs, the red wooden sign also displays information about upcoming civic meetings.
Councilwoman Trish Bergin Weichbrodt and other civic leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Saturday morning.
