OK, so technically, it's not a book. It's an interactive and sortable database, but either way, Roosevelt running back Johnnie Akins now has his name in it.

Akins, a junior, ran for 378 yards last Saturday as Roosevelt beat Locust Valley, 35-21. He did so on 36 carries and scored five touchdowns.

Akins also happened to tie Mepham's Mike Parshley (Oct. 19, 2002) for the third-best rushing total in a game in Nassau history, according to our Long Island high school football record book. (It also tied Parshley and Amityville's Rufus Wilson for ninth best in Long Island history.)

Through the first six games of the season, Akins leads all Long Island rushers with 1,374 yards and 14 touchdowns (based on scores reported to Newsday).
