Raymond Jones, a senior tight end/defensive end for Roosevelt, has made a verbal commitment to play college football at Stony Brook University, according to coach Joe Vito.

Jones, a first-team All-Nassau selection last season at defensive line, made 68 tackles and had 11 sacks for the Rough Riders, who won the county championship before losing to Babylon in the Class IV Long Island Championship.

Roosevelt also sent 2009 Newsday second-team All-Long Island selection Jawara Dudley to SBU, where he became a starting outside linebacker. Last year, Dudley earned All-Big South first-team honors as a junior. He will start for the Seawolves in 2013 when the team moves to the Colonial Athletic Association.
