Roundup: Aberdeen helps Baldwin hand Uniondale first league loss
Dominique Aberdeen had 16 points and five rebounds to help Baldwin hand Uniondale its first Nassau Conference I loss, 60-58, in boys basketball last night. Donte Howell added 10 points, including a free throw with three seconds left.
Uniondale had a chance to tie it, but Baldwin's Ashanti DePass (12 points) blocked a jumper by Shaquille Mosley as time expired.
Baldwin, which won its ninth straight, improved to 11-2 overall and Uniondale, led by Mosley with 23 points, fell to 7-1.
Valley Stream North 68, Sewanhaka 65: Ryan Kenny hit five three-pointers and scored 26 points as Valley Stream North overcame a 12-point deficit in Conference ABC-III. Kenny hit four straight threes in the fourth.
Elmont 60, Floral Park 40: Anthony Elechi scored seven of his 18 points in a 15-4 second quarter and had 12 assists for Elmont (4-1) in Conference ABC-I. Isaiah Watson added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Bethpage 60, North Shore 55: Kyle Tracy had 17 points and seven rebounds for Bethpage (3-2) in Conference ABC-IV. Ryan Rivera added 11 points and six rebounds and Ryan Alfred had 10 rebounds.
Longwood 106, Floyd 67: Senior Darien Davis had 19 points and a school-record 16 assists for Longwood (6-0) in League I. Paris Parks (29 points) and Chris Green (19 points) each hit six three-pointers as Longwood totaled 20 treys. Tajric Boggs added 16 points and four steals.
Sachem North 52, Central Islip 48: Doug Wirth hit a two-point shot from the corner with 1:20 remaining to give Sachem North (2-5) a 44-42 lead in League II. John Ford had 20 points, including four foul shots down the stretch. Nick Gallina had nine points, five assists and eight rebounds.
Derrick Franklin had a game-high 21 points for Central Islip.
Bayport-Blue Point 68, Amityville 55: Brandon Mincher had 15 points and eight assists to lead Bayport-Blue Point.
Reid Drzal scored nine of his 14 points during a 36-26 second half and added 12 rebounds as Bayport-Blue Point (8-1) took over sole possession of first place in League VI. Amityville dropped to 7-2.
Southold 68, Bridgehampton 65: Jon Cepelak scored 10 of his 16 points in a 17-13 fourth quarter and added 11 rebounds for Southold (8-0) in League VIII.
Alex Conway added 12 points and nine rebounds and Gino DeJongh had 11 points and 14 rebounds. Ainsley Wyche had 32 points for Bridgehampton.
Solomon Schechter 60, Lexington 50: Josh Rubin had 27 points, including six three-pointers, and Sam Hoffman scored five points off the bench in the fourth quarter to propel Solomon Schechter (6-3) in IPPSAL.
