Roundup: Smithtown East's Plaspohl opens season with no-hitter

Smithtown West 14, Copiague 0: Kim Plaspohl pitched a five-inning no-hitter for Smithtown West (1-0) in League II. Plaspohl walked four and struck out seven before the game was called via the run rule. Julia Chapman went 2-for-3 with three walks and two RBIs, and Plaspohl was 2-for-3 with three walks and three RBIs.

Connetquot 7, Floyd 4: Sarah McKeveny threw a complete game, allowed two runs, and struck out nine in the League I opener. Erin Sweeney went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Gabby Galeazzi went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs.

Hicksville 7, Syosset 6: Ireland Normile had five RBIs, including a three-run double in the second inning that gave Hicksville (1-1) a 7-1 advantage in Conference AA-I. Normile also had five strikeouts in a complete game.
