Speculation began swirling Wednesday over the state of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore's marriage after the two spent their anniversary apart and tapered off on their normally prolific Twitter postings.

Though last Saturday marked the sixth anniversary of their Kabbalah-ceremony wedding in Beverly Hills, the couple were on different coasts. Comic actor Kutcher, 33, the new co-star of "Two and a Half Men," had arrived in San Diego the day before to party with former "That '70s Show" castmate Danny Masterson, according to People. Their stops, the magazine said, included a VIP table at the nightclub Flux.

Moore, 48, has been in Manhattan promoting a short film she directed for the Lifetime TV-movie anthology "Five" and attended its premiere Monday night.

In contrast to their frequent tweeting to one another, neither made an anniversary posting. The day Kutcher left for San Diego, Moore tweeted a quote by the Greek philosopher Epictetus: "When we are offended at any man's fault, turn to yourself & study your own failings. Then you will forget your anger."

On Sept. 18, she had tweeted, "Whoever is out of patience is out of possession of his soul," misattributing the Francis Bacon quote to Jonathan Swift.

Moore has canceled at least one scheduled public appearance, according to Us Weekly, which said she abruptly pulled out of attending a West Hollywood art show by photographer David LaChappelle.

Allegations of infidelity on Kutcher's part have dogged the couple in the tabloid press since at least last year.

Neither of the actors' spokeswomen responded to Newsday's requests for comment. No statement has been released.
