Alia Ferullo, 59, of East Hampton, said she was getting cabin fever after being snowed in by the blizzard. She fell victim to what many others stuck inside succumbed to: running out of blizzard snacks.
With her road and driveway still not plowed, Ferullo said she made a "mission impossible" maneuver, rolling down the snow to get to downtown East Hampton to buy more provisions.
"We were absolutely, completely stranded yesterday, and we didn't actually get anybody around to clean out the snow," Ferullo said. "But today, I decided I had to get out. So I actually rolled over the snow to Montauk Highway like Tom Cruise. I tried treading in it, but I got all the snow in my boots, so I just managed to get out."
She said she tried shoveling more than 2 feet of snow Monday, but the snow was too much and just worked up an appetite. A full-time resident for more than six years, Ferullo said she loves the snow.
"I ran out of food completely. I actually am not very experienced on how to build up food for the for the snowstorm," she said. "This is the most snow I've ever seen in my whole life. And I just think it's really beautiful. I love the fact that everything has come to a standstill, and we all have to be present to the day and just living and surviving, just getting food and just knowing how to get through the time."
