After Seamus Kirby's two-run single tied the score at 3 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Ryan Connolly scored the winning run in the 11th when John Breden was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in No. 4 Mepham's 4-3 win over No. 5 Oceanside in Game 1 of a Nassau Class AA quarterfinal Tuesday.

Tommy White pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and Chenzo Worgul tossed 3 2/3 shutout innings in relief. Oceanside won Game 2, 10-3, to force a Game 3 Thursday. Mepham (12-5-1) hosts Oceanside (15-7) at 4:30 p.m. Clarke 5, Garden City 4: Hasan Deljanin entered with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh and induced a game-ending groundout to lead No. 2 Clarke in its win over No. 10 Garden City in the third round of the Nassau Class A playoffs.

Joe Roche's RBI single capped a four-run second inning and put Clarke ahead 5-0. Clarke (18-4) hosts No. 7 Plainedge in a quarterfinal at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Wantagh 1, Valley Stream North 0: Corey Sachs scored the go-ahead run on Mike Paradiso's RBI single to left with one out in the bottom of the sixth to lead No. 14 Wantagh (11-7-1) in its Nassau Class A second-round win over Valley Stream North.

Will O'Brien pitched a five-hit shutout, striking out 10 and walking one for the victory. Wantagh advances to the third round, where it will take on sixth-seeded Island Trees at 4:30 this afternoon at Island Trees.

Carle Place 1, Wheatley 0: John LoCurto singled home Mike Delio in the bottom of the third to lift No. 3 Carle Place over No. 2 Wheatley in Game 2 of a Nassau Class B semifinal. LoCurto also earned the win with a seven-hit complete game.

The Frogs (12-7) will face the winner of the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor series in the championship beginning Tuesday.

Floral Park 10, Seaford 3: Ryan Barry went 3-for-3 and his RBI single in the third inning gave No. 5 Floral Park a 9-0 lead over No. 12 Seaford in the third round of the Nassau Class A playoffs.

Mitch Calandra had nine strikeouts in five innings. Floral Park (18-4) hosts No. 13 Manhasset at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

East Islip 4, Commack 2: Brendan Dowd's RBI double gave No. 6 East Islip a 2-0 lead in the first inning of its Suffolk Class AA second-round win over No. 11 Commack. East Islip (17-5) never trailed, and Anthony Visconte threw a six-hitter with eight strikeouts, two walks and two earned runs to earn the win. East Islip will play at No. 3 Hauppauge at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Bayport-Blue Point 5, Mount Sinai 0: P.J. Weeks threw a four-hitter, struck out nine and walked three in No. 3 Bayport-Blue Point's Suffolk Class A second-round win over No. 7 Mount Sinai. Rob Acierno's double drove in Luke Olsson in the bottom of the fourth to give the Phantoms a 3-0 lead. Bayport-Blue Point (18-3) will face No.2 Comsewogue in a best-of-three semifinal. Game 1 is at 4 p.m. Friday at Comsewogue. Chaminade 7, Holy Trinity 0: Tyler Ruth pitched a shutout, allowing four hits and striking out seven to lead No. 1 Chaminade(17-3) over No. 5 Holy Trinity in a CHSAA semifinal. Rob Aromiskis went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run, and Brian Goulard went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Chaminade advances to the CHSAA final at 3 p.m. Sunday at NYIT.
