Ryan Ludwick's two-run double in eighth leads Reds

B.J. Upton hit two home runs, Matt Joyce also homered and David Price improved to 15-4 last night as the visiting Tampa Bay Rays won their fifth straight game, beating the Minnesota Twins, 4-2.

Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks' fine rookie season (15 homers, 54 RBIs, .288 average in 75 games) is over. He was placed on the disabled list with a broken right wrist.

Athletics 9, White Sox 7: Jonny Gomes homered to tie the score and Brandon Inge hit a go-ahead single for visiting Oakland in the eighth.

Mariners 7, Angels 4: Hisashi Iwakuma took a four-hitter into the eighth and John Jaso homered as visiting Seattle ended a five-game skid.

Padres 5, Pirates 0: Jason Marquis (6-6) took a no-hitter into the seventh before settling for a two-hitter. Chase Headley and Will Venable homered for visiting San Diego. A.J. Burnett struck out 10 in 52/3 innings but fell to 14-4.

Nationals 6, Diamondbacks 5: Ryan Zimmerman singled home two of visiting Washington's five runs in the fifth as the Nationals earned their eighth straight win.

Reds 4, Cubs 2: Ryan Ludwick hit a two-run double in the eighth for visiting Cincinnati.

Giants 8, Rockies 3: Buster Posey homered and drove in two runs to back Matt Cain (11-5) for host San Francisco.

Cardinals 4, Phillies 1: Matt Holliday hit a three-run homer and Jake Westbrook (12-8) won his fifth straight start to lead visiting St. Louis.

Marlins 7, Dodgers 3: Carlos Lee hit one of host Miami's season-high five doubles and drove in two runs.
