FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Mark Sanchez barely looked downfield and took few chances in Monday night's 10-9 loss to the Ravens, completing a modest 10 of 21 attempts for 74 yards.

The second-year quarterback appeared to be cautious, not looking deep and airing it out like Joe Flacco did. The Ravens QB threw for 248 yards and showed little hesitation. Sanchez, meanwhile, was tentative and Rex Ryan said he's partially to blame for that after stressing all week about the need to take care of the ball.

"I'll take responsibility for that because going into that game, I know how that teams feeds off of turnovers," Ryan said Tuesday. "You can be more aggressive. Maybe that's the answer, but as soon as he throws three interceptions, we're going to be wondering what the heck is going on here.

"But I think against that specific opponent, knowing how they feed off of turnovers, that maybe I did drill it in his head a little too much."

Still, Ryan admitted he's a bit concerned with the offense, which totaled 176 yards and didn't convert any of its first nine third-down situations. The Jets made good on only 1 of 11 third-down conversion attempts.

"I think we have the ability," he said. "I don't think there's any doubt. I know we have the ability, but we've got to find a way to convert on third down and keep drives alive. It was the perfect storm."

No interest in Haynesworth

With Kris Jenkins done for the season with a torn left ACL, there was speculation that the Jets might pursue a trade for Albert Haynesworth, the disgruntled Redskins defensive tackle who's been at odds with coach Mike Shanahan. However, a league source familiar with the Jets situation told Newsday the team has no intentions of dealing for Haynesworth.

Clowney back

David Clowney has returned. The Jets re-signed the wide receiver, bringing him back a week after he was initially cut loose in part to make room for WR Patrick Turner. The staff grew tired of waiting for Clowney to show he can be a key contributor on special teams and offense. But now he has another chance. To clear a spot for Clowney, the Jets waived RB/WR Danny Woodhead.
