Sachem has four Suffolk varsity all-stars

The Suffolk County High School Hockey League varsity all-star team was finalized last week, with Sachem having the highest representation with four players on the roster. Sachem's leading scorer Chris Chizzoniti will be joined by teammates Alex Posillico, Robert Donnelly and goaltender Brandon Bassett.

The SCHSHL all-stars will play a home-and-home exhibition series against the Hudson Valley High School Hockey Association, starting Jan.9 at the Rinx in Hauppauge and concluding Jan. 13 in Poughkeepsie, NY.

“All four players definitely deserve to be there,” Sachem coach Al Posillico Jr said. “It’s definitely nice to have four players going from Sachem and these guys have been the reason why we are where we are.”

Sachem (10-6, 20 points) sits in third place in the SCHSHL standings having won its last two contests.

First-place Smithtown (15-0, 30 points) has three skaters on the squad and second-place Connetquot/Sayville (12-1, 24 points) has two skaters and one goalie represented.
