An educational forum will be held Thursday in North Merrick, featuring a panel of educators and parents discussing a range of issues in the school system.

The forum will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in the North Merrick Public Library, 1691 Meadowbrook Rd. It is hosted by the Merrick Avenue Civic Association.

Panelists include Alyse Middendorf, president of the North Merrick board of education; Anthony Pellegrino, a retired principal; Pat Maher, president of the civic association and the panel’s moderator; and attorney Brian O’Keefe, a member of the Committee to Save Sacred Heart School, who has children who attend Sacred Heart Elementary School.

“The panel of distinguished speakers will address many issues, including budgetary questions, the closing of Sacred Heart Elementary School, class size and curriculum,” Maher said in a news release.

Most of the time will be used for the public to ask the panel questions.
