Village of Saddle Rock trustees have appointed their deputy mayor to the mayoral seat after the death last month of J. Leonard Samansky, who was mayor for 22 years.
Deputy Mayor Dan Levy was appointed mayor last month, Village Clerk/Treasurer Donna Perone said.
Levy will serve until village elections in March, when the remaining year of Samansky’s term will be up for election.
Samansky (above) died July 14 of heart illness. He served as mayor of Saddle Rock for more than a fifth of the village’s existence; it celebrated its 100th anniversary earlier this year.
Samansky’s son, Adam, swore Levy in to office.
