Sagamore Hill to get new exhibit signage

Sagamore Hill National Historic Site has awarded a $223,400 contract for 35 outdoor exhibit signs to replace some dating to the 1980s.
The National Park Service site, home of President Theodore Roosevelt, awarded the contract to Pannier Graphics of Pittsburgh, a firm that has fabricated this type of “wayside exhibit” for other Park Service sites around the country.
The new signs will be placed on the grounds of Sagamore Hill and in Oyster Bay hamlet to interpret significant locations in the life of the 26th president. They will be installed to coincide with the reopening of the Roosevelt home, which has been closed since December for a major restoration project. The house is expected to reopen in early 2015.
