Even with an attacker sprinting directly toward her with her team leading by a goal, 22 seconds left and a Suffolk county title on the line, Sam Giacolone flashed the same composure that's granted her a certain reputation on Long Island. "You saw it again tonight," coach Becky Thorn said. "She's one of the best goalies in New York."

Giacolone, a senior committed to Notre Dame, made eight saves and junior Kaeli Huff scored with two minutes left to give No. 3 Eastport-South Manor a 7-6 win over No. 1 Hauppauge in a Class B girls lacrosse final Tuesday night at Dowling College.

Eastport-South Manor (16-3) will play the winner of Wednesday's Nassau Class B final between No. 1 Manhasset and No. 3 Wantagh at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Adelphi.

Giacolone made eight saves in total, three on free positions, but none bigger than her point-blank stop against Catherine Goodfellow in the game's waning moments.

"Honestly, I didn't think she was going to shoot it at first," Giacolone said. "And then all of a sudden she came at me and I just reacted as fast as I could."

Carly Tellekamp scored three times for Hauppauge (13-5). Kasey Choma scored back-to-back goals midway through the first half for Eastport-South Manor. Sophomore Kelsey Huff had a goal and won the final draw control. Junior and sister Kaeli Huff had three goals. For the winner, she darted inside and found the back of the net from eight feet out.

"Do it for my teammates," Kaeli Huff said.
