Town Park at Malibu in Lido Beach will host a sand-sculpting competition on Saturday.

Organizers are calling the contest, presented by Hempstead Town and the MaliBlue Oyster Bar restaurant in Lido Beach, the 1st Annual Seaside Sand-Sculpting Spectacular Competition. The competition will last from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and be followed by awards and festivities until 7 p.m., organizers said.

“I can think of no better way to mark the unofficial end of summer than to showcase the talents and creativity of our sand-sculpting residents along the pristine shoreline of Town Park at Malibu,” Supervisor Kate Murray said in a statement.

Sand sculptures will be on hand at Town Park at Malibu from Saturday until Labor Day.

Residents who want to participate in the competition can register at Town Park at Malibu at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.
