State Assemb. Michaelle C. Solages (D-Elmont), the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Project HOPE will hold a recovery information event tomorrow for residents affected by superstorm Sandy.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 854, 51 Roosevelt Ave. in Valley Stream. Attendees can learn about resources available, and get homeowner information about insurance and the loan application process for disaster assistance.

FEMA assistance is available to homeowners and renters whose property was damaged or destroyed by Sandy, and whose losses are not covered by insurance. The state deadline to apply for property damage loans was extended to March 29, organizers said.

To apply online visit DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-3362. Hearing or speech-impaired residents may call TTY 800-462-7585 for assistance.

For more information, call Solages’ office at 518-455-4465 or email solagesm@assembly.state.ny.us.
